Jewar Airport Project: Four Bidders Clear Technical Round for ₹29,560 Crore Greenfield Airport

Four companies have cleared the technical criteria for the Jewar Airport and a grant of Rs. 29,560-crore is likely to be finalized today, the sources close to the development informed.

DIAL i.e the Delhi International Airport Limited, the Zurich Airport International AG, Adani Enterprises Limited and the Anchorage Infrastructure Investments Holdings Limited had expressed interest to construct the Jewar International Airport, a senior official said.

Shailendra Bhatia, Nodal Officer, Noida International Airport Limited [NIAL] was quoted saying, a technical evaluation of the bidders was done during a meeting of the Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee (PMIC) held under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to the Uttar Pradesh government in Lucknow today and all four bidders have qualified the criteria.

He further said that the financial bid will be opened on 29th November i.e Friday at 3 pm in the office of NAIL, to finalize the fund allocation.

NAIL, the concerned authority floated a global tender to take a developer on board for the construction of the proposed Greenfield Airport in Jewar. The Uttar Pradesh State Government formulated the Noida International Airport Limited to manage the Jewar International Airport project in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.

This Greenfield Airport will be the third airport within the vicinity of the national capital region [NCR] after the famous IGI i.e. Indira Gandhi International airport and Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport. The proposed Jewar Airport is planned to cover 5,000 hectares and a sum of Rs. 29,560 crores is estimated for the construction of the same. This Greenfield Airport is designed to have six to eight runways, the maximum across the country, the officials informed.

The officials also informed that the first phase of the proposed Jewar International Airport will cover 1,334 hectares and is estimated to have a construction cost Rs. 4,588 crores. The project is likely to be completed by 2023, the officials informed.
